It’s a difficult one to find, there being no visible street frontage, but the surrounding funereal businesses – florists, stone masons, etc -- give you the idea that you’re in the right place. Once inside the lobby, you’ll have to ask at the desk for directions to this, the most final of museums.
At the heart of the collection are a series of magnificent hearses. From the traditional velvety black to the more unusual pristine white (reserved for children and ‘the pure’), they represent the splendour and celebration of death. It’s not an eerie place, the displays are bright and modern, with life-sized horses and costumed figures completing the picture… but it is a little weird. You may even start wondering, just who comes to a museum like this – other mortals just like you, you’d hope?
