Parc de la Ciutadella,
Arc de Triomf
Fontseré, architect of the surrounding Parc de la Ciutadella, also built this wonderful shade house in 1883. Its attractive open-slatted design provides the perfect home for a range of subtropical and shade loving plants, including some soaring palms. You'll find it on the west side of the park, parallel with Passeig de Picasso.

Beautiful striped shadows, cast down through the curvaceous iron and wood structure, create an atmosphere that's both cool and serene. Here is a peaceful spot in the city. You can sit, protected from the worst of the sun's rays and surrounded by a jungle of greenery. Relax on one of the wooden seats that surround the central decked area. Let the hustle and bustle of the city fall away into the shade.
