A 20 metre high book of matches, created in the unmistakable 'pop ar't style of Claes Oldenburg. Erected in 1992 for the Olympic Games, it is constructed from steel and fibreglass and finished in bright vivid colour.

Fe Fi Foe Fum, surely you can hear the rumble of the giant's mighty tum. Having trailed up the side of a hill and then stood marvelling at a packet of discarded matches, its quite easy to feel that you could be trodden on, squashed, like a used and burnt-out cigarette butt.

The oversized monument lures through heightened scale, plastic surface and vigorously intense colour. Rest upon it too long and you may just be lifted up, off into the depths of an enormous dark and dusty pocket.
