Barcelona's most famous living artist established his foundation here in 1990. Housed inside a former modernista printing house designed by Domčnech i Muntaner, it provides space for a wide ranging programme of art and study.

A mass of shimmering scribbles, drawn in the air above this handsome building, define the wisp-like form of a floating cloud. On top, a single empty chair invites the viewer up, as if to sit in solitary contemplation on its heavenly perch.
Cloud and Chair (1991) is Tąpies's poetic 'air drawing'. It's created from a single line, a stretch of aluminium tube 3000 yards in length, drawn out in three dimensions with the blue sky as its canvas.
